EAGLES LOSE CLOSE SERIES
WITH TIGHT PLUMBING
DEARBORN
HEIGHTS-- They
are called ‘Beer Leagues’ and in Polish ‘Liga Piwa’. At the Dearborn Heights
Canfield ice arena, a group of Polish ex-pats play recreational men’s ice
hockey every weekend.
In the D-5 Division Playoffs, Tight
Plumbing scored on a power play and bested the Eagles, 4-2. Said Eagle defenseman Wojtek Waszkiewicz
after the game, “The series was very hard fought, lots
of emotional ups and downs. For the most
part, both teams were pretty even but power play opportunities
were definitely not in the Eagles favor throughout the
series.” Tight Plumbing won the best of
five series 3-2.
Tomek Zylinski is the Capitan of the
Eagles and the team is currently playing in the spring season.
The Eagles finished the season with a
record of 21-6-3. They also lead the division in goals for and goals against.
They were also picked as the #3 team in
the entire league from the fab five voting that takes place each season.
